Rafah: Here's what happened in the last 24 hours

On Monday 6 May, Hamas agreed to a US mediated ceasefire deal. Earlier that day, the Israeli military ordered Palestinians living in eastern Rafah to evacuate from the area because Israel was preparing for a military attack. The Israeli prime minister insisted the invasion of Rafah needed to take place "in order to apply military pressure on Hamas, with the goal of making progress on freeing the hostages and the other war aims" despite Hamas agreeing to release hostages in the ceasefire deal. Rafah, currently home to 1.5 million displaced Palestinians, was struck with air strikes and artillery shelling and several people have been reported killed and wounded. Here's what happened in Rafah in the last 24 hours.
